Emma: Junior Prom 2016

My Junior Prom was amazing! In this post I'll be sharing some photos and tips for looking and feeling your best at the dance and afterparty.

First things first: I need to rave about this dress. I searched everywhere but could not find any dresses that I loved, so I took a risk and used Rent the Runway. This dress is a Marchesa Notte, and retails for more than $1000... needless to say, I felt so glamorous.

My corsage coordinated with my dress perfectly! The bag I carried is a Kate Spade that I borrowed from a friend. It looked so classic, and was a beautiful and simple addition to the detail of the look.

So many pretty dresses! Everybody looked so beautiful.

My main tips to a great prom night:

1. Don't settle on a dress that you aren't completely in love with! Find something that you know you'll feel beautiful in. If you are feeling iffy, keep looking. It'll be worth it!
2. Wear heels that aren't insanely uncomfortable. This tip speaks for itself... You won't be able to enjoy the dance if your feet are killing you.
3. Hairspray. Is. Key... Really.
4. Use a setting spray for your makeup. The last thing you'll want is for your gorgeous makeup look to be gone before the night is over!
5. Carry your lipstick and/or gloss in your purse for reapplication.
6. Don't overdo it with your makeup! Make sure your face can breathe.
7. Drink plenty of water beforehand. It's not fun to have to pee constantly, but you will be moving around a lot and it's important to stay hydrated throughout the night.
8. Do NOT pull an all-nighter. Even if you are staying the night at the after-party and think you just have to stay up, sleep still counts on prom night and you will feel awful for the next few days. Trust me... I am speaking from experience.
9. Be safe at the after-party! This is in all regards. You know your limits! In addition to this, it's smart to have a buddy to check up with every hour or so.
10. Have FUN! You only have a few chances in your life to go to a dance like this, so live the night to the fullest!
