Emma: OOTD 3/30/15

OOTD: March 30, 2015

Getting back into the swing of things after spring break has been difficult. With this new sunny weather however, I find it much easier to get out of bed and start my day! Here's what I wore on Monday, the 30th. I hope it can give you some ideas for creating new spring ensembles!

I picked this navy top up from Anthropologie this winter and had yet to wear it. I absolutely love the flutter sleeves--they are so flirty and add a bunch of character to the otherwise-simple top!

I'd like to propose a moment of silence for these shoes... (Okay, you're probably reading this in silence anyway, but just go with it). I have officially found my new favorite shoes: Tory Burch Calf-Hair Espadrilles. I just happened to snag the last pair in my size--am I the only one who thinks it's a sign?:)

The simple jewelry that I chose for this outfit really tied together the whole look. I went with gold-toned pieces because it really complements the brown tones of my shoes.

For my bottoms, I chose to wear my J.Crew toothpick destroyed jeans. I love the way that indigo and navy look together!

The flirty frill on my top perfectly contrasts with the slight rips in my jeans. I adore the girly/edgy clash and how it differs from my usual simplicity.

California Day 1: Our Disney Adventure and Tips

We wanted to start our California trip off with a bang, so obviously we ended up at the happiest place on earth, Disneyland. The day was filled with a lot of ice cream, walking, and laughter. This was a magical way to start our amazing vacation. Here are some of our top 10 Disney vacation tips:

1. Always pick up a park map when you come in. Without a map we would have wasted a lot of time trying to find out how to get places, and may have ended up lost.

2. Dress for the weather. We had amazing weather and didn't even need jackets at night. The weather might not always be nice (rain, cold, extreme heat)so make sure to plan accordingly. Also, remember to wear comfortable shoes(you will be walking a lot!).

3. Rent a locker! This was probably one of the best decisions we made. We brought lunch and kept it in the locker. We also put our water bottles in there so we wouldn't have to carry them.

4. Bring your own lunch and snacks. This not only saves money but helps make it easier for everyone to bring what they want instead wasting time finding a restaurant everyone will enjoy.

5. Get there early and stay the whole day. We got there at opening time at 8am. We stayed until almost 11pm. When we first got there the lines were short and we were able to grab fast passes for later in the day.

6. Get fast passes. These can save tons of time. Some of the more popular rides can have super long lines(not fun). If you grab a fast pass you can easily go and find something else to do. When you come back you only have to wait for a short period of time.

7. Get a photo card. There are professional photographers around the park taking photos of you in front of the castle or with characters. They give you a card and after a few hours you take it to the photo shop and you can look at all your photos!

8. Eat as much ice cream as you can! Trust me on this one.

9. Bring plenty of money. We spent so much just on water bottles alone!

10. Finally, watch the parade and stay for the fireworks. They are all part of the full disney experience.

Emma: Marina in March

Marina in March

With increased travel this month, airplane time has nearly reached it's maximum for me... (Seriously. 20 hours and counting.)

I can never sleep on flights, and I find it hard to just blindly stare out the window. That's why music has been my savior this March.

My music taste is definitely not broad, and I'm not afraid to admit that! I like to stay within my comfort-zone and occasionally branch out to new artists.

One of my all-time favorites is Marina and the Diamonds.

She just dropped an album on the 15th.

I still can't get over it.

FROOT: My top three

I've already given the album a good run-down and have determined my favorite tracks of the moment. I'm always initially drawn to upbeat melodies; slower, deeper songs take more time for me to love. That's why my current top three are all similar in that they have a faster, catchier melody!

1. Can't Pin Me Down

This track is the most upbeat of the album and has interesting clashes in both scope and lyrics. I'm typically drawn to poppy tunes, so this one naturally stands out to me! The lyrics have some contradiction; I am really captured by the interesting ideas about how women are expected to fit into a certain mold. In this song, Marina defies that idea by explaining that she changes day to day and isn't ashamed of it.

2. Forget

Also one of the more fast-paced tracks on this album, Forget is definitely one of my favorites. Marina's vocals in this are simply beautiful, and the actual message of this song is extremely empowering. Her lyric style is evolving in that it is a lot more straightforward than in the past, and this song is a prime example of that evolution.

3. Blue

This song makes me the opposite of blue! I love that it combines the style of some of her older work with her newer fresh lyrics and, again, straightforward ideas. This song is very real and relatable to anybody who has experienced heartbreak.

I sincerely hope you'll check out the album if you haven't already.
The world could use more Diamonds:)

Emma: Spring Fling

Spring Fling

I'm once again realizing how thankful I am for bare-armed weather. With today's temperature of a whopping 68 degrees, it was finally time to replace my winter darks with spring pastels!

I ordered this shirt from J.Crew Factory awhile back, and have been patiently waiting for the perfect weather to wear it! The beaded neckline is so fun and unique.

I am just LOVING this arm candy! Lately, these two pieces have been my go-to stack. Simple yet edgy, my spiked bracelet perfectly complements my standard gold watch.

Yet again, my white jeans are making an appearance! Shocker:)

I'm obsessed with the shape of these shoes. They are a bit different from the standard curved-toe of a ballet flat, but aren't out of my comfort-zone.

I love how the gold from my sunglasses complements my jewelry!

Happy spring! Stay tuned for outfit inspiration and more during this blissful and sunny season.

Stepping Into Spring

Finally it is warm here in Kansas City! I am so happy that spring is just around the corner. Today was the first day I have worn shorts since early fall and it feels amazing. So with this beautiful weather I decided to share what I wore on this warm KC day! Enjoy.

Kissing winter goodbye.

Lately my favorite shoes have been my converse. They are super comfy to run errands in and go perfect with any outfit. They are a definite must have in your wardrobe.
I've been loving layering delicate necklaces together. My favorites lately have been my Kendra Scott Elisa pendant and Return to Tiffany pendant.
I found these sunnies at Nordstrom last week and they have been my obsession lately. I love size and color of the frames.
My shorts are out and I'm feeling great. Finally my legs are free from tight jeans and long leggings. I got these shorts from Nordstrom awhile back.
I picked up this striped blue and grey shirt at TJMaxx. I can always find super cute and fashionable pieces there that are inexpensive. I wore my favorite lace bralette from Aerie underneath.
Hope everyone has an amazing week!
xoxo A
